So Today we started off presenting our China History Research Projects. For this project, each student was asked to choose one of the following topics: The Opium Wars, Sino-Japanese Wars, The Civil Wars The great Leap Forward, The Cultural Revolution, History of Taiwan, History of Hong Kong, US and China Relations, Religion in China, and Bejing and Kabuki opera. I thought it was interesting learning about the history of China. All of the presentations were very interesting and informative. My favorite presentations were about Bejing Opera and Kabuki and Religions in China. Bejing Opera and Kabuki were explaining what both of the Opera stiles are preformed, and Religion in China was telling how Buddhism came to China and other religions are also in China and have a large number of people following them.
After this, we went to the Chinese Community Center, where we had a Dumpling workshop and a TaiChi Workshop. it was really fun to make dumplings and then eat what you made. I was a little afraid that the dumplings that my group made were going to be bad but they were delicious. We were split into three groups. Each group had to decide how they wanted to prepare their dumpling meat. After our meat was how we wanted it we had to wrap our dumplings. Wrapping the dumplings was a little bit complicated but it was also really fun. Once we finished wrapping our dumplings and they were ready to eat the Chinese Community Center provided vegetarian spring rolls, pork and shrimp fried rice, and vegetarian noddles, which were very good. when we finished eating lunch we got a tour of the building. Once the tour was over we started our TaiChi Workshop which; we got a brief explanation of what TaiChi was and the five different types. I really enjoyed doing TaiChi, it was relaxing and maybe a little magical. Tomorrow we will go to teh Asian Society and watch the movie "Farewell My Concubine".
Here we have Cidette presenting her presentation on Religion in China.
